La Meraki : Made with passion, creativity and love August, 16th 2018

Located in the city center on Notre-Dame Street, not far from our establishment, this small shop-workshop opened its doors in 2015. La Meraki is defined as a boutique of fashion items, but on site, you will find find more. Women's clothing, fashion and decoration accessories, various body care products, artistic creations of all kinds and more are available.

The name of the company comes from the Greek and means : to do something with his soul, with creativity or with love. In this, the shop is very aptly named. Its mandate is to offer handcrafted unique or limited-edition handicraft products. In order to encourage local purchase, most of these products are made in Quebec.

In addition to the range of products available in the shop, the Meraki also offers various creative workshops in the genre "do it yourself" for young and old. You can learn about drawing, painting, sewing, creating various body care products, essential oils and many other topics. These workshops are given by collaborators who present their particular artistic techniques. All workshops are offered at a reasonable price and include the training and materials required for the various activities.

I had the pleasure of participating in one of these creative workshops, the one on macrame, taught by Stéphanie Miller, co-owner of the shop. Having a background in teaching plastic arts, she shares her knowledge with passion in a friendly atmosphere. After about two hours and a half of workshop, I left the shop with two beautiful supports for plants macramé that I made myself. I really enjoyed this experience, which I intend to repeat eventually.

Stéphanie is very involved in her business and the field of crafts in Quebec. It was her passion for the arts that led her to dream of opening a workshop-shop, a dream that has become her reality today. She is currently working on the organization of the next Etsy show in La Mauricie and Centre-du-Québec, to be held on September 29 and 30, 2018 at the Musée Pop. She is also the head of the organizing committee for this event, which aims to promote the local purchase of handmade products in the region. Many artisans who sell their products on the web platform are present.

I strongly urge you to take the time to visit this shop that will not fail to seduce you with its charm and authenticity during your next stay with us at the Hotel Oui GO!
